Making Valentine’s Day decor is in full swing and I am so happy to share this project with you!
You can get most of the supplies at the Dollar Tree. You need two different sized hearts, one larger than the other, a faux ceiling tile, pink rope, white and pink spray paint, clear matte spray, black ink, ruler or other straight edge, hot glue, hot glue gun, and sand paper.
If you want to get as many of the supplies as possible from the Dollar Tree, I can give you some substitutes. The two hearts and faux ceiling tiles are from the Dollar Tree. Our Dollar Tree did not have a plain larger heart so I bought one that had stuff on it that I stripped off. The pink rope is from Hobby Lobby but I already had it from previous projects. You could instead, use the white nautical rope from the Dollar Tree. If you do that, I would switch the order of the colors you use. I would paint the tile white, the large heart pink and then you have the white nautical rope around the edge. You can get the spray paint at Walmart or hardware store. I will use the spray paint on other projects as well so it is worth it to me, but it has gotten pricey, so you could use brush on paint from the Dollar tree. They might not have pink paint so you could just mix white and red paint or add red food dye to white paint. You can get the black ink at Hobby Lobby and I have had mine well over a year which I use to distress tons of projects. You could instead buy black paint at the Dollar Tree and dry brush it on the areas you want to distress. You need to be very careful, not to put too much black paint on the project. I would initially be very conservative with the paint. I use the matte clear spray on lots of pieces but you could skip that step. Anyways, thanks for being here and I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!
This was the larger heart that I used as the base. Don’t worry, I was careful taking off the “love” cutout off and used it on a different piece that I will throw in a picture of at the bottom. :)
This is actually a picture of the back of the heart because I forgot to photograph this step but hopefully you get the idea.
Here is the project that I used the “love” cutout on. Great neutral, farmhouse, cheap to make Valentine’s piece! All of the supplies were from the Dollar Tree. It took 3 or 4 white nautical ropes, the tan rope, a wire heart wreath form and the “love” sign.
