How to Distress Wood to get Farmhouse Look

The “farmhouse” look has become popular in home decor and fits in well with the Americana style that I love. Here is the link to a video that I made awhile back for my Instagram account on how I get the white, aged, distressed farmhouse look. In the video, I use two pieces that I made using this technique. One with a barn star that I made and one with a card modpodged to the base.  I commonly pick up used cutting boards for cheap at the Goodwill and other thrift stores and use them as a base for my pieces. On the video I show a barn star that I made with my Sizzix but you can buy them on Amazon or sometimes Hobby Lobby.

DIY Butterfly Cross Using DollarTree Frame

The other day I shared how I made a DIY sunflower cross using a Dollar Tree frame. Today I am sharing a “how to” tutorial on how to make a butterfly DIY cross. These have been real popular especially as we transition from winter to spring.

DIY Red Truck Decor

I love making these kinds of crafts and while I normally do sell them, this one in particular was made for a friend. I go to thrift stores at least once a week looking for things to use as a base for my crafts. Sometimes it is a cutting board, a pan, a saw, this time it was a round wooden candle holder. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do with it. Hopefully it inspires you!

DIY Sunflower Cross using DollarTree Frame

I am really excited to share this DIY tutorial with you guys! I make a wide variety of these crosses to sell and I use DollarTree cross frames to do it. Our DollarTree has carried them year round this year but in years past I have had to order them on their website. These handmade crosses are one of my best sellers and I enjoy making them.

I got the sunflower for the middle at Hobby Lobby but the DollarTree and Walmart sometimes carries them too. Here are some other variations that I make to sell.

DIY Coffee Station with Wood Crates

This was another fun project I did for our office that is on our property. My husband and son are the ones that use the office the most and are avid coffee drinkers so I made a coffee station for them. They are both over 6ft tall so I made it tall. Just like the coffee table I posted earlier, this is made from wood crates and a cabinet door for the top.
